## Description

Around 6,000 tonnes of cargo a year move through Shah Amanat International (CGP/VGEG), the second-largest airport in Bangladesh, serving the port city of Chattogram. A newly activated 270-tonne cargo station and nine caged storage zones have expanded capacity for time-critical exports. The airport carries mainly ready-made garments, pharmaceuticals and perishables from one of the country's most export-intensive regions, with international links focused on the Middle East. Following India's transshipment decision, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) has approved an upgrade adding two Explosive Detection System scanners, cold storage and a modern cargo shed. Customs clearance and bonded warehousing run through Bangladesh Customs, closely tied to the adjacent seaport. Sitting beside Bangladesh's largest deep-sea port, CGP is the country's natural sea–air interface in the south-east. For forwarders, it offers a credible alternative to routing every shipment through Dhaka.
