## Description

PAL Airlines, Air Inuit, Pascan Aviation and Central Mountain Air all base regular services on Sept-Îles, making YZV one of eastern Canada's busiest regional airports. From here they reach the road-less communities of Nouveau-Québec, Labrador, the Lower North Shore and Anticosti Island, routinely carrying general freight, resupply loads and urgent mining material. The town itself was built around iron ore: the Quebec North Shore & Labrador railway hauls the mineral from inland mines to one of North America's largest ore-loading ports. That bulk traffic, however, leaves by ship and rail rather than by air, so the airport's cargo role centres on regional and community supply. Air Canada keeps the city connected to Montreal and Quebec City. For freight forwarders, YZV functions chiefly as a distribution point for the far north, with heavy and bulk volumes handled at the port and on the railway.
