## Description

An 80,000-tonne-a-year cargo facility, its own free zone and one-stop customs clearance make Senai far more than Johor Bahru's city airport. The Senai Airport Free Zone, gazetted as a Free Commercial Zone, allows repacking, transshipment and re-export under duty-free terms, with dedicated areas for perishable and dangerous goods. Its decisive advantage is proximity to Singapore: shipments from the Iskandar Malaysia industrial region can be cleared here more cheaply than via nearby Changi and trucked across the Causeway. The site is run by Senai Airport Terminal Services, part of the MMC Group. Highways and rail tie the airport closely to Johor's seaports — Tanjung Pelepas and Pasir Gudang — easing sea-air combinations. For forwarders across the southern peninsula, Senai is thus a full-fledged and growing cargo location. High-volume long-haul connections still partly route through Kuala Lumpur (KUL) and Singapore.
