## Description

Four towns — Sambava, Antalaha, Iharana and Andapa — give the SAVA region its name and its standing as the world's largest vanilla-growing area, and Sambava sits at its centre. Unusually for a Malagasy regional field, SVB genuinely moves cargo: each harvest, vanilla flies out in the belly holds of Tsaradia passenger aircraft to Antananarivo Ivato (TNR). From the October peak onward, space is so tight that couriers and integrators such as DHL can wait weeks for capacity. There is no dedicated freighter service or large cargo terminal here; the airport's freight role rests entirely on belly capacity feeding Ivato. From TNR, the crop continues by air to Europe and beyond, often via Paris, Istanbul or Addis Ababa. The high value and perishability of cured vanilla justify the air route that most regional airports never need. For shippers, SVB is a real, if seasonally constrained, origin point.
