## Description

Seventeen years passed between scheduled flights at Saidu Sharif until PIA returned in 2021, underlining how marginal this Swat valley airport is to commercial aviation. Set near Mingora in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it serves tourists and returning residents on seasonal turboprop links to Islamabad and Peshawar. The airport has no cargo terminal and plays no part in air freight. Goods bound for Swat travel through Islamabad International (ISB), about 160 road kilometres south, with the new Swat Motorway (M-16) sharply cutting transit times.
