## Description

Afriqiyah Airways and Fly Oya are the two carriers that keep Sabha Airport on the map, flying some seven weekly rotations to Tripoli, Benghazi and Alexandria. As the administrative and transport centre of the Fezzan, Sabha provides the main air access to the whole of southern Libya. The airport lies about four kilometres southeast of the city and shares its runway with a military base. International scheduled service resumed in 2024, though operations are repeatedly interrupted by the south's fragile security. There is no dedicated cargo operation; freight from the desert districts gathers here as belly cargo on passenger aircraft before moving on to Mitiga in Tripoli. In effect, Sabha works as a collection and distribution point between the Fezzan's remote fields and the coastal freight network.
