## Description

A dedicated freight terminal hosting around five airlines and some thirty forwarding agents forms the cargo backbone of Réunion's main airport, locally known as Gillot and named after the island-born aviation pioneer Roland Garros. As a French overseas department in the Indian Ocean, Réunion belongs to the EU customs territory, with clearance run by the French Douane alongside the agriculture and food directorate (DAAF). Home carrier Air Austral operates Boeing 777s from here to mainland France, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte and Bangkok, providing much of the belly capacity, while Air France Cargo is also present.
