## Description

Aid pallets, machinery spares and perishables share the apron at Roberts International, Liberia's only airport with scheduled commercial service. It lies near Harbel in Margibi County, some 56 km from Monrovia, and gained a new Chinese-financed terminal in 2018. Passenger lines such as Brussels Airlines, Ethiopian and Air Côte d'Ivoire carry belly freight, while Ethiopian Cargo, Turkish Cargo and Lufthansa Cargo reach the country through forwarders feeding hubs at Addis Ababa, Istanbul and Frankfurt. Ground and cargo handling is run by Menzies Aviation, with a dedicated freight building for customs and inspection. Heavy exports — iron ore, rubber from Firestone, tropical timber — leave by sea via the Freeport of Monrovia rather than by air. Inbound air cargo is dominated by consumer goods, spare parts, pharmaceuticals and humanitarian shipments for NGOs and UN agencies. Customs falls to the Liberia Revenue Authority, and the Robertsfield Highway links the airport to the capital and port.
