## Description

Once Johannesburg's principal airport, Rand Airport (IATA: QRA, ICAO: FAGM) in Germiston has traded scheduled airliners for flying clubs, maintenance shops and a celebrated aviation museum. Opened in 1920 and sitting at about 5,483 feet on the Gauteng highveld, it now caters to general aviation, charter and warbird operations rather than commercial freight. The airport runs no cargo terminal or scheduled cargo service. Air freight from greater Johannesburg is handled at OR Tambo (JNB), roughly 25 km to the northeast and the country's busiest cargo airport. For forwarders, QRA is a GA and maintenance base, not a freight point.
