## Description

Angola's best-known airport code is no longer an option for air freight: Quatro de Fevereiro Airport (LAD/FNLU) in Luanda closed to commercial traffic on 1 March 2026 and was fully replaced by Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (NBJ/FNBJ), some 40 km south of the city. Until then LAD was the country's main international passenger gateway, and cargo moved largely as belly freight on scheduled aircraft, supported by basic to intermediate warehousing with areas for general cargo, perishables, pharmaceuticals and dangerous goods. It never operated as a dedicated freighter hub. The move means a longer drive from central Luanda but far more capacity: the TECA cargo terminal at the new site covers roughly 13,000 square metres, is designed for about 130,000 tonnes a year and is scalable to 440,000 tonnes, with frozen-goods areas included. Customs, import and export clearance for Angola has therefore run through NBJ since 2026, so air waybills, booking screens and master data should be switched to the new code. Other entry and exit points worth considering are Catumbela Airport (CBT) near Benguela and Lobito, and for multimodal chains the port of Lobito with its rail corridor into the interior.
