## Description

Fresh sashimi-grade fish, live seafood and other Palawan perishables make up the bulk of what moves through Puerto Princesa International Airport (PPS). The facility is the principal air gateway to Palawan, geared above all toward tourism to El Nido and Coron, and handled more than 2.16 million passengers at its 2019 peak. Cargo travels mainly in the belly holds of scheduled aircraft, with throughput reaching roughly 14,000 tonnes in 2022. A 13,000 m² terminal, opened in 2017 at a cost of PHP 3.8 billion, anchors operations. Dedicated freighter services are largely absent, so international consignments route onward through Manila (MNL), the nearest full cargo facility, via frequent domestic links. Customs and agricultural-export clearance follow the Philippine Bureau of Customs and Bureau of Plant Industry. The runway is shared with the Antonio Bautista Air Base of the Philippine Air Force.
