## Description

Some 54,956 tonnes of air cargo passed through Brasília's Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport (IATA: BSB, ICAO: SBBR) in 2025, comfortably above the cargo terminal's nominal 40,000-tonne annual capacity. Health products, medicines and pharmaceutical inputs account for more than 80 percent of that volume, making BSB one of Brazil's most pharma-focused freight points. Concessionaire Inframerica has run the airport since 2012 and lifted storage capacity more than tenfold; the Terminal de Cargas now offers over 1,000 pallet positions. Temperature-controlled chambers meet the standards of health authority ANVISA, while dangerous goods, agricultural inputs, veterinary products and food are also processed. Sitting at the geographic centre of Brazil, the capital's airport works well as a national distribution point. At roughly 1,066 m elevation, BSB ranks among the country's highest major airports. Bulk commodities still leave the region by sea, leaving time-critical and cold-chain consignments to the air route.
