## Description

Some 54,956 tonnes of air cargo passed through Brasília's Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport (BSB/SBBR) in 2025, comfortably above the cargo terminal's nominal 40,000-tonne annual capacity. Health products, medicines and pharmaceutical inputs account for more than 80 percent of that volume, making BSB Brazil's most pharma-focused freight point. All shipments pass X-ray screening at the cargo terminals before departure under Brazilian civil aviation security rules. At roughly 1,066 m elevation, BSB ranks among the country's highest major airports, which affects payload planning for full freighters. Bulk commodities still leave the region by sea, while Guarulhos (GRU) and Viracopos (VCP) remain the obvious alternatives for intercontinental volume freight.
