## Description

A dedicated air cargo terminal (TECA) has anchored João Pessoa International Airport (JPA) since the 1980s, bundling customs clearance, warehousing and freight-forwarding under one roof. Opened in 1957 and named in 1960 after the jurist and governor João Pereira de Castro Pinto, the airport is the gateway to the capital of Paraíba and sits within the municipality of Santa Rita. It is run by the Spanish concessionaire AENA. Azul, Gol and LATAM operate mainly domestic services, with air freight moving as belly cargo and through the TECA. Paraíba's economy — tourism, footwear and electronics — supplies the typical shipments. The nearby Port of Cabedelo, some 30 kilometres away, lets sea and air work in tandem. For forwarders, JPA is a reliable cargo point in northeastern Brazil, feeding urgent consignments onto the global network via São Paulo or Recife.
