## Description

As Chile's southernmost major airport, Presidente Carlos Ibáñez del Campo (PUQ) is the supply centre of the Magallanes region, about ten kilometres north of Punta Arenas. On the passenger side, LATAM, JetSmart and Sky connect the city with Santiago and the north, while Aerovías DAP flies regionally to Porvenir, Puerto Williams and Antarctic destinations. For freight, the airport has a separate cargo apron on its western side plus chilled and perishable sheds for the region's salmon and seafood exports. A standout feature is the Antarctic air bridge: from November to January, Ilyushin IL-76 freighters depart PUQ for the ice runway in the Ellsworth Mountains, complemented by supply flights to national and international research stations. The nearby port of Punta Arenas rounds out connectivity, handling heavy lift, mining supplies and provisions for Patagonia and the Strait of Magellan.
