## Description

Eighty Abrams tanks, 130 Bradley fighting vehicles and 18 Paladin howitzers sit ready in climate-controlled sheds at Powidz (ICAO: EPPW) — a Polish military airfield in Greater Poland about 70 km east of Poznań, not a commercial cargo airport. Since July 2024 it has hosted the U.S. Army's LTESM-C / APS-2 prepositioned-stock complex, some 60,000 m² of humidity-controlled warehousing that the Army calls NATO's largest single infrastructure investment in more than 30 years; the stock can cut an armoured brigade's deployment time from about 60 days to one or two weeks. As home of the Polish Air Force's 33rd Air Base, Powidz operates C-130 Hercules transports and helicopters, but handles no scheduled or commercial air freight. From 2026 the maintenance mission passes to Polish-Provided Logistic Support (PPLS), cutting U.S. costs by roughly 90 percent. Shippers needing air cargo use Poznań-Ławica (POZ, ~70 km) or Warsaw Chopin (WAW), Poland's leading freight gateway.
