## Description

Passengers, mail and small parcels — that is the cargo manifest of Port Stanley Airport (PSY), the hub of inter-island aviation beside the Falklands' capital. The government-run FIGAS service flies Britten-Norman Islander aircraft from here to the grass and gravel strips of settlements and farms scattered across the archipelago. The field has no freight role for forwarders, so any international air cargo is handled at Mount Pleasant (MPN) instead. Seaborne supplies reach the territory through Stanley's harbour rather than this airstrip. Until Mount Pleasant opened in 1985, however, Port Stanley was the islands' principal airport.
