## Description

Built in the 1970s as a private airstrip for forestry company Consolidated Bathurst and taken over by Quebec after it bought the island in 1974, Port-Menier (YPN) is the year-round air link to Anticosti Island in the Gulf of St Lawrence. Air Liaison and Pascan Aviation connect its roughly 200 residents and a growing flow of eco-tourists with Sept-Îles, Havre-Saint-Pierre and Quebec City. The single terminal handles passengers, mail and light island supplies; there is no freight terminal or customs post. Heavier goods arrive by supply ship, and scheduled air cargo routes through Sept-Îles (YZV). YPN is a remote island feeder, not a cargo stop.
