## Description

Built with grand ambitions yet running far below capacity, Pokhara International opened in January 2023 as a Chinese-financed Belt and Road project. Regular scheduled international service has never materialised; the airport mainly handles domestic routes plus occasional charters to Lhasa. For freight forwarders it matters little — Pokhara is a tourism gateway to the Annapurna and trekking region, not a cargo station. Nepal's air cargo runs through Tribhuvan International in Kathmandu (KTM), the country's only genuine freight hub. A small freight terminal exists, but scheduled cargo operations do not.
