## Description

Purely military and staffed by roughly 150 personnel, Pituffik Space Base (THU, formerly Thule Air Base) is the northernmost installation of the US armed forces, in Greenland's far northwest. Flight operations support the base and the US Space Force's missile-warning and space-surveillance mission (12th Space Warning Squadron); there is no scheduled civilian traffic. In 2026 the Pentagon earmarked about $25 million for runway and infrastructure upgrades, and NORAD deployed additional aircraft to the base in January 2026. No civilian air cargo is handled; Greenland's national cargo hub is Nuuk (GOH, approx. 1,400 km).
