## Description

For years Dumai's heavy lifting was done by its seaport, not its airfield – but in 2026 PT Pelita Air Service reactivated Pinang Kampai Airport (DUM, ICAO WIBD), with a rebuilt runway of about 1,800 metres now recertified and planned domestic links to Jakarta, Batam, Medan and Padang. Originally an oilfield strip, DUM remains a small domestic airport with no dedicated cargo terminal; shipments move, if at all, as belly load on passenger flights. Genuine air freight from Riau province is still handled at the international Pekanbaru (PKU) airport. Bulk, oil and industrial goods continue to pass through the large port of Dumai on the Strait of Malacca.
