## Description

Portugal's highest mountain rises 2,351 metres behind Pico Airport (IATA: PIX, ICAO: LPPI), which lines the north coast of the Azorean island between lava fields and UNESCO-listed vineyards. Azores Airlines and SATA Air Açores connect Pico across the island network and to Lisbon; SATA also runs scheduled cargo and mail services within the Azores, served by a new cargo warehouse at the airport. Most island supply still arrives by ship, and heavier or time-critical air freight is routed via Lajes on Terceira (TER, approx. 90 km) or Ponta Delgada (PDL). Many visitors come for whale watching and the volcano climb. For standard shipments to Pico, an island feeder flight combined with sea freight is the realistic path.
