## Description

Opened in 1972 by Hamersley Iron – today part of Rio Tinto – Paraburdoo (PBO) was built to serve a Pilbara iron-ore mine and still belongs to the miner. Its single route is Perth, flown by Qantas and Virgin Australia for the fly-in fly-out rotation of thousands of workers. Qantas Freight runs a regional handling point here, so consignments can be lodged or collected on every Perth service – belly freight for mining operations rather than scheduled cargo aircraft. Larger and international shipments consolidate at Perth (PER), reached by air or via the Nanutarra–Munjina road.
