## Description

A recently lengthened runway – extended from about 1,350 to roughly 2,200 metres and now able to take medium-haul jets such as the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 – marks Ouani, the airport of Anjouan island near the port town of Mutsamudu and the second-busiest field in the Comoros after Moroni. Regional carriers link it mainly with Moroni's Prince Said Ibrahim International (HAH). The airport carries little freight of its own; Anjouan's ylang-ylang and spice exports leave mostly by sea from Mutsamudu or via HAH for onward air shipment, and heavy imports likewise move through the seaport. In practice it is a regional passenger link within the Comorian archipelago.
