## Description

Two cargo hangars covering some 2,000 square metres and rated at around 15,000 tonnes a year opened with Terminal 3 in 2022, giving Oran's Ahmed Ben Bella Airport a proper freight capability. ORN is Algeria's second-busiest airport after Algiers and the principal aviation point for the country's west and its Mediterranean coast. Air Algérie, Tassili Airlines and several European carriers connect the city with Algiers, Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Alicante and Istanbul. Swissport handles ramp and cargo operations, moving mostly belly freight and time-sensitive goods for regional industry. A real advantage is proximity to the large seaport of Oran and the Arzew oil and gas terminal, which supports sea-air combinations. The east-west motorway ties the airport to Algiers and the Moroccan border. Sitting just 90 metres above sea level and a few kilometres from the coast, ORN ranks among the key reference points of western Algerian logistics, while full freighters still concentrate at Algiers Houari Boumediene.
