## Description

Where most airports compete for freight, Oksibil simply keeps a region supplied. Set at 4,315 feet in the Pegunungan Bintang highlands of Papua, the town has no through-road to the outside world, so rice, fuel, cement and building materials arrive almost entirely by air. Since 2023, subsidised Perintis cargo flights operated by Trigana Air and Global Aviasi have served Oksibil, redistributing goods onward by light aircraft to around a dozen mountain districts such as Okbibab, Borme and Batom. The main link to the coast runs through Jayapura (Sentani, DJJ) and Merauke, where shipments are consolidated for the onward leg. Wings Air and Trigana also carry passengers. The airport has no large freight infrastructure; the short highland runway and mountain weather cap aircraft size and payload. For local people, this air bridge is the only dependable supply line. Forwarders bound for Pegunungan Bintang therefore consolidate cargo at Jayapura before it flies in.
