## Description

LZY is an aviation milestone code: Nyingchi Mainling Airport in southeast Tibet pioneered RNP precision approaches in China, the only way to thread airliners through the deep Yarlung Tsangpo valley. Opened in 2006 at 2,949 metres — the lowest of Tibet's airports — it now handles passenger flights to Chengdu, Chongqing, Lhasa and Guangzhou. Cargo facilities are absent, and since 2021 the Lhasa–Nyingchi railway has carried a growing share of the region's goods.
