## Description

Novy Urengoy Airport (IATA: NUX, ICAO: USMU) lies about 4 km south-west of Novy Urengoy in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, next to some of the world's largest natural-gas fields. A new 19,000 m² terminal opened in December 2022 with an annual capacity of around 1.45 million passengers, and the airport has been run by Airports of Regions since 2018. Traffic is mainly domestic scheduled service (Yamal, UTair, S7, Rossiya among others) supporting the region's oil and gas industry. Freight moves mostly as belly cargo and mail on passenger flights; no reliable figures for dedicated cargo operations are published. Larger air-freight volumes for the region are handled through the Moscow hubs (SVO/DME).
