## Description

Handling more than 30,000 tonnes of freight a year, Novosibirsk Tolmachevo (OVB/UNNT) is Siberia's largest airport and Russia's sixth busiest. Its cargo relevance comes from pure geography: the field sits almost exactly midway between Europe and East Asia and long served as a technical and transhipment stop for long-haul freighters. Western carriers used it regularly before 2022; since EU, US and Swiss sanctions and the reciprocal airspace closures, freight traffic has effectively been carried by Russian, Chinese and Turkish operators.
