## Description

Reached by no road and no through railway, the mining city of Norilsk depends on Alykel (IATA: NSK, ICAO: UOOO), about 35 km to the west, as its main gateway. The airport handles passengers and time-critical air cargo for the region, while heavy ore and bulk goods move instead along the Yenisei/Northern Sea Route to the port of Dudinka. Nornickel-linked carrier NordStar operates most traffic, linking Norilsk with Moscow, Krasnoyarsk and other cities.
