## Description

Two competing cargo terminals define the ground handling landscape at Noi Bai International Airport (HAN/VVNB), around 25 km north of Hanoi in Soc Son district: Noi Bai Cargo Terminal Services (NCTS), on site since 2005 and serving two domestic plus around 28 foreign carriers, and ALS Cargo Terminal (ALSC), whose four-storey, 15,000 m² facility is rated at roughly 250,000 tonnes a year. ALSC is building a second terminal of 70,000 m² designed for 700,000 tonnes annually and attracted fresh investor funding for the project in 2025. Volume justifies the build-out: the airport handled about 550,400 tonnes in the first half of 2026, close to 60% of Vietnam's total air cargo and around two thirds of its international freight. The dominant commodities are smartphones, camera modules, semiconductor components and garments from the industrial parks of Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen and Vinh Phuc. Belly capacity on passenger services is supplemented by scheduled freighter links to East Asia, the Gulf and Europe. On the passenger side, an expanded and heavily automated international terminal was completed in 2025. For multimodal work, the seaport of Hai Phong lies about 120 road kilometres away and is regularly used in sea-air combinations. Alternatives worth checking are Tan Son Nhat (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City for southern Vietnam and Cat Bi (HPH) near Hai Phong for regional traffic.
