## Description

No other Philippine airport carries as much international freight as Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL), the country's largest and busiest gateway in Pasay, Metro Manila. It concentrates the bulk of the nation's air cargo exports — semiconductors, electronics and garments — alongside a fast-rising tide of e-commerce imports. Ground handling is run by specialists such as Philippine Airport Ground Support Solutions (PAGSS), and in 2023 a new cargo gate with ramp access was approved to ease chronic congestion. Beyond the belly capacity of Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific, all-cargo carriers including Korean Air Cargo, Cathay Cargo, Emirates SkyCargo, Qatar Airways Cargo and Singapore Airlines serve the airport. Set within Metro Manila's urban core, it offers short hauls to industrial zones but contends with dense traffic; the Port of Manila is close at hand for air–sea transfers. Customs clearance runs through the Bureau of Customs, supported by nearby PEZA economic zones and bonded warehouses. Since 2024 the airport has been operated by a private consortium, New NAIA Infrastructure Corp., tasked with modernising its strained infrastructure.
