## Description

Newcastle Airport at Williamtown, sharing its site with RAAF Base Williamtown, is New South Wales's second-busiest airport after Sydney. After its runway was upgraded to Code E and an expanded international terminal opened on 28 July 2025, Jetstar began non-stop Airbus A321LR flights to Denpasar on 21 October 2025 and extended the service to Singapore in March 2026 — putting genuine international belly freight through NTL for the first time. The programme is designed to cut the region's reliance on Sydney and lower freight costs and transit times. A dedicated air-freight facility and an Aerospace East Precinct are also planned. Beside the Port of Newcastle — the world's largest coal-export harbour — the airport ties air, sea and rail into one corridor, with the Pacific Highway and rail linking it to the Hunter Valley.
