## Description

Raw milk is eastern Hokkaido's signature product, and Nakashibetsu Airport (IATA: SHB) sits in the middle of the Konsen plateau, Japan's largest dairy region — yet the milk travels by tanker truck and ferry, not by air. The airport has no cargo terminal; air freight from the area is consolidated at New Chitose (CTS) near Sapporo. ANA operates a daily flight to Tokyo Haneda, whose belly hold accommodates little more than documents and small urgent consignments. The airfield doubles as the closest access point to the UNESCO World Heritage Shiretoko Peninsula.
