## Description

A 3,000 m runway on a man-made island in Omura Bay — plus a dedicated cargo apron at the Nagasaki International AirCargo Terminal (NIACT) — make up the freight infrastructure of Nagasaki Airport (IATA: NGS), opened in 1975 as the world's first true offshore airport. The terminal handled roughly 5,450 tonnes of domestic cargo in FY2023, dominated by fresh seafood from the prefecture's fisheries and electronics components from local plants. ANA Cargo runs overnight connections to Tokyo Haneda and Narita, while larger international consignments are usually routed via Fukuoka (FUK) or Kansai (KIX). Passenger services by ANA, JAL, Solaseed Air, Peach and Jetstar Japan link Tokyo, Osaka, Naha and Hong Kong. The site near Omura, about 30 km northeast of Nagasaki city, connects directly to the Nagasaki Expressway.
