## Description

After eleven years out of service, Mosul International Airport (OSM) reopened in July 2025, and on 6 November 2025 the first Iraqi Airways flight from Baghdad touched down. Turkish contractors rebuilt the 3-km runway along with ten damaged buildings, including the main terminal and control tower. The facility is designed for roughly 630,000 passengers a year, putting passenger traffic firmly at the centre for now. No dedicated cargo terminal is in place yet, so air freight for the Nineveh region still moves through Erbil International (EBL), about 85 km to the east. Road links connect Mosul efficiently to Erbil and the surrounding province.
