## Description

Modlin handled about 1.74 million passengers in 2025, ranking as Poland's seventh-busiest airport after a drop from 2.7 million in 2024, when Ryanair pulled based aircraft. Opened in 2012 on the site of an old fortress, the airport (IATA: WMI, ICAO: EPMO) lies roughly 40 km north-west of Warsaw and is the country's main Ryanair base, with Enter Air adding seasonal flights. A 2025 agreement with Ryanair aims to triple traffic to more than 5 million by 2030. There is no dedicated cargo terminal – air freight runs through Warsaw Chopin (WAW, approx. 40 km). For forwarders, WMI is a low-cost passenger airport without its own cargo handling.
