## Description

Despite the generic label of "airport", Mius (ICAO XUDM) handles no cargo at all: it is the government airfield of Sarov, a closed nuclear city — the former Arzamas-16 — that hosts Russia's Federal Nuclear Center (VNIIEF). Its single runway 01/19 of about 1,920 m (2,500 m including displaced thresholds, no taxiways) serves state aircraft only, scheduled passenger flights having ended in 2005. Sarov is a restricted ZATO zone the public cannot enter without a permit, so no commercial freight moves through it. Travellers and shipments bound for the area route through Nizhny Novgorod (GOJ, Strigino, roughly 180 km away) or Moscow.
