## Description

Roughly 10,000 tonnes of annual cargo capacity sit behind the 1,360 m² freight terminal at Minangkabau International Airport (PDG), the principal gateway to West Sumatra. Located at Katapiang, about 23 km northwest of Padang, the airport links the province to Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Ground handling and cargo are managed by PT Gapura Angkasa and PT Prahita Titian Nusantara, with full customs, immigration and quarantine (CIQ) clearance on site. Regional exports such as cinnamon, gambier and fresh fish move through the terminal, while belly capacity on widebody pilgrim flights swells during the annual Hajj season. A coastal road ties PDG to the deep-sea port of Teluk Bayur, supporting combined sea-air shipments. Notably, Minangkabau is widely cited as the first airport in the world named after an ethnic group.
