## Description

Built alongside the major Merowe Dam on the Nile, Merowe Airport (MWE) works as a regional field in Sudan's Northern State. Traffic is mostly domestic and occasionally project- or government-related, in one of the country's calmer regions. The airport holds no commercial cargo role; goods reach the area by road or through the main nodes at Khartoum (KRT) and Port Sudan (PZU). Consignments to Sudan therefore route via those hubs rather than MWE. The dam that lends its name is one of Africa's largest hydroelectric plants.
