## Description

Fifty-five minutes by ATR 72 – that is the air bridge between Taipei Songshan and Matsu Nangan Airport (IATA: LZN, ICAO: RCFG), opened in 2003 near Jieshou on Nangan, the administrative seat of the Matsu archipelago. Uni Air is the sole operator, and the field's short runway restricts it to turboprop aircraft; spring fog regularly grounds the schedule. There is no cargo handling: heavy and bulky supplies for the islands travel on the Taima ferry from Keelung, while air freight is routed through Taiwan Taoyuan (TPE) with sea delivery for the final leg. Sitting only a few kilometres off the mouth of China's Min River, the Matsu islands occupy one of the most strategically watched corners of the Taiwan Strait.
