## Description

Matsu Beigan Airport opened in 1994 as the first airfield of the Matsu archipelago, the Taiwanese island group just off China's Fujian coast. Today the field (IATA: MFK, ICAO: RCMT) sees Uni Air ATR-72 turboprops on the short hop to Taipei Songshan – the only scheduled route, and one frequently disrupted by the spring fog that plagues the islands. Cargo is not handled here: freight for Beigan and the wider Matsu islands arrives by ferry, chiefly the Taima service from Keelung. For air shipments, forwarders use Taiwan Taoyuan (TPE) as the gateway and book the final leg by sea. Visitors know Beigan mainly for the preserved stone villages of Qinbi and its Fujian-style architecture.
