## Description

Some 4,500 tonnes of freight already moved through Pereira's Matecaña International Airport in 2015, most of it coffee and cut flowers from the surrounding Eje Cafetero. The airport runs a recently rebuilt cargo terminal offering warehousing, customs brokerage and freight-forwarding services. As the coffee region's international gateway, PEI combines domestic and cross-border routes from an extended runway at 4,416 feet. Perishables move via belly capacity and cargo services to the hubs of Bogotá and Panama City, then onward to the United States and Europe. Customs clear through Colombia's DIAN. When capacity is tight, Bogotá's El Dorado serves as a complementary cargo station. For the region's export-focused forwarders, Matecaña is the primary air-freight option.
