## Description

Iran's second-busiest airport after Tehran, Mashhad (IATA: MHD, ICAO: OIMM, officially Shahid Hasheminejad) handles eight to ten million passengers a year across 170 to 240 daily flights, serving Razavi Khorasan province and the pilgrims travelling to the Imam Reza shrine. Three terminals split the work: domestic (T1), international (T2) and a dedicated Hajj terminal (T3), between them reaching around 15 domestic and 10 international destinations. Its position in north-eastern Iran makes MHD a practical transhipment point for trade with Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and the CIS, well linked by road to the highways running toward the border crossings. The heaviest international volumes still route via Tehran Imam Khomeini (IKA).
