## Description

Madurai Airport entered the freight business in December 2017, when its former passenger terminal was refurbished into a dedicated cargo facility. The international airport sits about 10 kilometres south of the temple city of Madurai in southern Tamil Nadu. In FY 2024-25 it handled roughly 3,494 tonnes of cargo, driven by exports of textiles and perishables from the surrounding industrial belt, including the region's renowned Madurai jasmine.
