## Description

Second only to Manila in Philippine air cargo, Mactan Cebu International Airport (CEB) punches above the weight of its single runway on Mactan island. Serving Lapu-Lapu City, it consolidates the export economy of the Visayas — electronics, furniture, processed food and seafood — and recorded a 24.4% rise in cargo volume between January and May 2025. Most freight moves in the belly holds of Cebu Pacific, which bases its operations here, alongside Philippine Airlines, Korean Air, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Qatar Airways, EVA Air and China Southern. Bridges link the airport to mainland Cebu and its deep-water port, one of the country's largest container harbours, supporting combined air–sea shipments. Customs clearance runs through the Bureau of Customs, while several PEZA special economic zones around Cebu anchor export manufacturing. A notable footnote: in 2013 the airport received the Antonov An-225, then the world's largest cargo aircraft.
