Long overshadowed by neighbouring Hong Kong, Macau International Airport (IATA: MFM, ICAO: VMMC) has quietly rebuilt its freight business: 109,292 tonnes moved through in 2025, against roughly 108,100 tonnes in 2024 — a fifth consecutive year of growth, though the increase has flattened to about one percent. Built on reclaimed land off Taipa Island, the airport plugs into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area road network via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. Volumes are driven largely by cross-border e-commerce, for which Macau's status as a separate customs territory offers its own clearance channel. Cargo on the ground is handled by Macau Aviation Services Company (MASC), with Menzies Macau Airport Services also operating at the field; Menzies has signed a memorandum of understanding with Kerry eCommerce on global customs clearance routed through Macau, aimed at concentrating more e-commerce exports here.
