## Description

About one million passengers pass through Luxor (LXR) each year, against a terminal built for eight – a gap that says much about how this airport works. LXR is first and foremost Upper Egypt's tourism gateway, funnelling visitors to the Valley of the Kings, Karnak and Luxor Temple, busiest from October to April. Cargo is a secondary line: EgyptAir Cargo handles freight through a terminal equipped with refrigerated storage, animal quarantine, X-ray and fumigation for agricultural and handicraft exports. Heavier or time-critical consignments for Egypt still consolidate at Cairo (CAI), which offers far greater capacity and freighter frequency. The airport's cargo capability is real but modest, carried mostly in the belly-holds of charter and scheduled passenger flights.
