## Description

Southern Shanxi's coal and coking industry moves its tonnage by rail and road, but for passengers the region relies on Linfen Yaodu Airport (IATA: LFQ), reopened in January 2016 after a complete rebuild. Domestic routes connect Linfen with Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other major cities. The airport has no cargo terminal, so air freight from the prefecture is trucked to Taiyuan Wusu (TYN), about 250 kilometres north via the G5 expressway. The name Yaodu honours the legendary Emperor Yao, whose capital tradition places in Linfen.
