## Description

High on the Yunnan plateau at about 2,240 metres, Lijiang Sanyi International Airport (IATA: LJG) serves one of China's busiest tourist destinations, the UNESCO-listed old town of Lijiang. Cargo moves as belly freight on passenger services, with a design capacity of 15,000 tonnes per year; roughly 8,800 tonnes of freight and mail passed through the airport between January and July 2025, mostly Yunnan tea, medicinal herbs and tourism supplies. LJG hosts no dedicated freighter operations, so forwarders route mainline and international shipments through Kunming Changshui (KMG), reachable by expressway and rail. Ongoing terminal and apron expansion will add capacity for both passengers and cargo handling.
