## Description

DHL Express and terminal operator Ospentos move most of the freight passing through Tallinn Airport (TLL/EETN), which handled roughly 12,400 tonnes of cargo and mail in 2025 — a 33 percent year-on-year increase and the largest air freight volume in Estonia. About a quarter of that tonnage travelled on the Tallinn–Leipzig lane and 16 percent via Copenhagen, while routes to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan accounted for a further quarter, largely driven by e-commerce parcels from Chinese online retailers. Cargo therefore moves mainly as express shipments and belly capacity on passenger services rather than through a broad scheduled freighter programme. Ground handling is provided by Tallinn Airport GH, with Ospentos running two on-airport cargo terminals totalling around 2,100 square metres. DHL Express has signed a fifteen-year agreement with the airport operator for a 7,260 square metre logistics complex in the southern part of the site, including a 5,700 square metre freight terminal with an automated sorting system. Because Estonia sits inside the EU customs territory, intra-EU consignments move without customs formalities while third-country goods clear locally. Road feeder services along the Via Baltica corridor and the nearby port of Muuga link the airport to Latvia, Lithuania and, by ferry, to Finland. Riga (RIX, about 300 km by road) and Helsinki-Vantaa (HEL, roughly 100 km including the ferry crossing) are the realistic alternative airports.
